Viracon offers a competitive comprehensive benefits program which provides options to the employee and family. Decisions may be made on an annual basis and selections made be personalized to fit you and your family needs. All benefits are coordinated through our parent company Apogee. Medical Insurance Viracon offers a consumer-driven health plan through Blue Cross Blue Shield of Minnesota. The medical plan provides both preventive care and comprehensive coverage for illness. It features a preferred provider organization (PPO) network. Members of this network are doctors, hospitals and other health care providers that have agreed to charge our employees a special negotiated rate and take part in the network’s quality-control programs. This is to help ensure employees receive high-quality, cost-effective care when they use preferred network providers.
Preventive Care When employees use a preferred network provider, the plan covers the full cost of preventive care (exams, screening and immunizations). You do not have to meet a deductible before the plan pays the cost. This is to encourage employees and their family members to receive required immunizations and undergo regular screenings for cancer and other health problems, or detect them as early as possible when they can be treated most easily and successfully, than wait until they become worse.
Dental Insurance Viracon’s dental plan has a preferred network of dentists, the Delta Dental Premier network. Viracon also provides orthodontia coverage for dependent children up to the age of 19.
Life Insurance Viracon provides basic life insurance and Accidental Death and Dismemberment coverage at no cost to the employee. Employees can also purchase supplemental life insurance and dependent life insurance for their family members.
Short-term Disability Plan Viracon provides short-term disability coverage at no cost to the employee. This coverage supplies the employee with a source of income if they are unable to work due to an illness or injury.
Long-term Disability Plan Viracon offers long-term disability coverage to employees at a minimal cost to the employee. This plan offers further protection by providing a source of income if the disability continues after the short-term disability benefits end.
Long-term Care Insurance Viracon offers this insurance for coverage to help pay the costs of a person being in a nursing home, assisted living or residential care facility, or for home care. This insurance can provide an employee with protection against these costs. Several coverage levels are available.
Business Travel Accident Insurance Viracon offers business travel accident insurance at no cost to the employee. This benefit pays your beneficiary in the event of death while traveling for the company.
Flexible Spending Accounts Viracon offers tax-free spending accounts that let employees set aside before-tax dollars from each paycheck to help pay for health care and dependent care.
401(k) Retirement Plan Viracon provides a 401(k) plan to help employees reach their retirement financial goals. Employees are allowed to contribute 1% - 60% of their eligible pay to the plan on a before-tax basis, up to annual limits set by the IRS.
Viracon provides a matching contribution determined by the contribution of the employee. Viracon also makes an annual contribution to employees’ accounts, depending on length of service:
Employee Stock Purchase Plan The ESPP is an opportunity for employees to purchase Apogee common stock (apog) and become part owner of Apogee Enterprises, Inc. – and share in the rewards of the company’s growth and success.
Profit Sharing Program This program has been designed to enable employees to share in the growth and profit that Viracon achieves each quarter. This is a key component of our compensation program.
Viracon Employees Club The Viracon Employee’s Club provides social and recreational activities and discounts to employees and their families.

Holidays Ten holiday (7 national, 1 birthday and 2 personal/floating) are provided with pay each year by the company to full-time employees.
Funeral/Bereavement Leave Employees are provided with pay in the event of a death of immediate and extended family member to attend a funeral.
Vacation Viracon offers vacation to full-time employees based on length of service. Employees accrue vacation each pay period.
Educational Assistance Viracon recognizes that the future of the company will depend on the capabilities of its people. Viracon encourages further education and may reimburse employees for the cost of tuition and books for job related coursework.
Adoption Assistance Viracon helps defray the cost of an adoption by providing a monetary benefit to employees.
